Wednesday July 5th

A visit between 06.00 and 07.00 this morning. Hazy sunshine and already very warm.

Even though it was early there were lots of Damsels and Dragonflies flying around this morning including a Common Darter and a Black Tailed Skimmer, also a Meadow Brown seen. I couldn't pin any of these down but did manage a picture of this Shaded Broad Bar moth.

A Turtle Dove was calling in the East scrub and 2+ Nightingale were croaking and whistling - they probably have young in the bushes. Family parties of Long Tailed Tit and Whitethroat in the open area as well as Great Spotted and Green Woodpecker (including one juv bird) A young Slow Worm was the only reptile I saw today.

Lots of Common Centuary around in the open area now. A nice hour but very quiet now bird wise.
