Tuesday 20th June

Visit between 06.00 and 07.00 this morning. Cooler than of late but bright and sunny, light breeze.

Still 2 Nightingale singing by the water works entrance as well as a Garden Warbler. A family party of Whitethroat by the scrape and a m Black Tailed Skimmer that was surprisingly active this early.

Some very nice flowering Water Rush by the first bridge near the scrape. I can't get very close to it because of the nettles so this is the best picture I could get.

I walked through the East Scrub area by the Divers carpark, a Turtle Dove was purring and a Lesser Whitethroat was rattling and showing well.
A few white form Common Spotted Orchid through here and yet another dead Common Shrew. The third I have seen in a week.

Over onto the west scrub/open area. A Grass Snake didn't linger long enough for a picture which was a shame. 2 Mistle Thrush and a singing Chiffchaff. This area is awash with St. John's Wort at the moment - really poor picture below - light was a bit harsh.

A quick look over Abbey Mead which was birdless and then back over the style towards the scrape and Water Works entrance.
