Thursday 22nd January

A post work visit for the last half an hour of daylight today. I was delighted to at last add Bittern to my year list. One showed quite well in the reeds at the end of the Millstream pit. Also 2 Chiffchaff were makng their 'hueet' call and there were good numbers of Fieldfare coming into roost around the east and west scrub. A few Goldcrest were also calling. Too dark for any pictures I am afraid.

Hi Steve. Good decision to make a late afternoon viit for the Bittern. It must have been a omen. Well done for adding it to your year list.
Did I read you might be going to see the Waxwings this weekend. As tomorrow is going to be the best day I might see you there.
