Sunday 27th July

An hours wander up at Holly Hill this morning from 7.30am. It is fantastic for butterflies up here at the moment. Seen this morning were 2 Marbled White, 10 Chalkhill Blue, 2 Peacock, 12 Ringlet, 12 Common Blue, 4 Essex Skipper, 1 Small Skipper and c5 which could have been either species, 100+ Gatekeeper, 8 Large White, 3 Small White and inumerable Meadow Brown.

Also 3 Slow Worm, but again no luck with Adder here - probably already active as it was so warm.

Great shots - Gatekeepers seem to be having a good year...they're everywhere, including about a dozen at a time in my garden today.
