Saturday 21st June

Pretty much confined to home today. I did however take one short walk from home along the lane by my house. A young Little Owl showed briefly in an Ash Tree, also a Yellowhammer calling, 6 Goldfinch, 4 Skylark, 2 Whitethroat and a Kestrel.

Later I took a short drive to try and get baby Felix to nod off, I drove past some of my best local sites for Spotted Flycatcher but no sign in a few brief scans. I did stop off on the Pilgrims way at the foot of Trosley CP and added my first Ringlet of the year, with two in close succession feeding on hawthorn at TQ 647 611.

I love coming through to your blog and reading about the things that you have spotted.....

I lived in Strood for 26 years, so we were virtually neighbours!!!!!

Hi Lee - a Ringlet is a butterfly, they are just out now. They are chocolatey brown with a a white rim on the upperside and have 5 small spots on the brown underwing. Thanks for your kind comments on my blog!
