Kestrel
Quite a few Green-veined White which was good as I didn't note any this morning. Frustratingly my photos of them were rubbish! Best sightings were an Oak Egger caterpillar - a huge beast around 3 inches or so long, Migrant Hawker that was freshly emerged on one of the ponds and a dragonfly Nymph that needs identifying.....any ideas? I suspect it is a Migrant Hawker.

Any ideas what species this Dragonfly Nymph is? (my guess is Migrant Hawker...what do you think?)

Hi Steve....the kestral is a beautiful birds....we do get them here....the railway embankment seems to draw them....
The hawker photographs are amazing....they really are a treat to see....tks for sharing....
Great photos Steve.
I agree with you there Steve, it is definately a Hawker, but not sure what kind. Migrant, Southern, Brown or Emperor?
Steve ,
Sizewise from here it looks like the exuvia of Migrant Hawker .
If you still have it , look down from above , the lateral (side) spines on segment 9 , last spines on abdomen , should reach the apex of segment 10 , to confirm .
Saw my first immature MHs yesterday as well , on the Common.
I visit great comp at least once every summer, nice secluded place, an island paradise in a baron farmscape.
Fantastic photographs, very well done. I love the photograph of the Kestrel it's great. Great photos of the nymph as well. Keep up the great work.
