Thursday 8th May

I visited from 7.45pm to 9.15pm tonight. I was hoping for Hobby but no sign. I added a Common Sandpiper to my yeat list along the Medway - i think that takes me to 93 bird species. Also 3 Cuckoo, 6+ Nightingale, good numbers of Whitethroat, Willow Warbler and Reed Warbler.

1 Grass Snake, 6 Slow Worm and a Water Vole were also seen.

Bank-side Orb-weaver (thanks Greg!)

That water vole looks a bit startled! Spider is 'Bank-side orb-weaver' Larinioides cornutus if you're interested. G
