Monday 16th April
A quick hour before work today between 6.30 and 7.30.
I parked at the Water Works entrance off of the A228 and immediately had a Nightingale in full song by the entrance to the compound. A second Nightingale was singing close to the scrape. A walk through the west scrub which held 2 Willow Warbler and a Cettis and on to the path to Brook House. A Whitethroat sang from the top of the path here and at the bottom by the Brook House entrance a third Nightingale was singing.
Back up and across the open area (east scrub) a second Whitethroat was singing as well as another Willow Warbler and 2 Mistle Thrush.
I crossed the railway and immediately had a Sedge Warbler in song at the south end of Abbey Mead lake. As time was short I walked along the path next to the railway towards Brooklands Lake. I added 3 Blackcap and two Cettis along here.
As I walked through the tunnel to Brooklands car park another Whitethroat burst into song and then another in the same area of scrub. Four Whitethroat in total. A fourth Cettis also called here.
Along the Millstream back to the water works there was almost wall to wall Blackcap song.
