Tuesday January 2nd
A visit between 2.30 and 4.30 today. Very breezy but bright.
Pretty quiet actually today. I only added one more species to my New Hythe list - a Shelduck on Abbey Mead. Also there were the pair of Goldeneye. A Bullfinch called along the river, but the tide was too high for any waders.
'Sunken Marsh'
Needless to say there was no sign of the Bearded Tit at the Sunken Marsh, just a Kestrel a calling Cettis and a few Goldfinch and Redwing over.
The Ferruginous Duck was showing well on Brooklands again with the Pochard and Tufted Duck. Back around to the Millstream Lake hoping for a roosting Bittern - it didn't tonight but good views of two Water Rail here and the red head Goosander was still present.
