Driving back from London at 4.30pm I came off the M20 at Wrotham at drove along Wrotham Water Lane towards Trottiscliffe. I was hoping for an Owl and thought that is what I had disturbed from the side of the road as it zig zagged in front of my car. In fact what quickly dropped onto the road in front of me was a Woodcock. It stopped in the headlights no more than 6 feet in front of the car. The best Woodcock views I have ever had. Showing all of it's cryptic markings. It sat in front of the car for at least 10 minutes - fantastic!
