Saturday December 9th

A visit this morning between 8.15 and 9.30am. A bright clear morning with light wind.

A Green Woodpecker called as I checked the regular Bittern spot - still no sign. I scanned the Millstream lake - there were a pair of Goosander (although they were at opposite ends of the lake). Also several LBB Gulls along with numerous Gadwall, Tufted Duck and Shoveler and a few GC Grebes.
Through the West scrub. Lots of Redwing and a few Fieldfare here.

REDWING

A a few Reed Bunting, Pied Wagtail, a flock of LT Tits were also in the area. Over the railway towards Abbey Mead.

COOT ON ABBEYMEAD

Well over a hundred Redwing between Abbey Mead and the railway line as well as a few Song Thrush and Mistle Thrush. On the pit itself 100+ BH Gulls and 10+ of Common and Herring Gull. Round Brooklands lake a Cettis called and there were a 2 Little Grebe as well as good numbers of Pochard.

Along the millstream a few Goldfinch as usual plus 5 Cormorant on the Millstream lake.
