Sunday August 6th
After a holiday in Cornwall it was back to the patch this morning with a visit between 06.45 and 08.30. Weather was warm and a little overcast.
Something appears to have happened to the water levels whilst I have been away with the scrape much fuller than recent weeks and some fences put up by Mid kent Water. Also the ditches near the open area are full again. Not sure what is happening but I will try to find out.
Very quiet this morning. Still lots of young birds around with family parties of Willow Warbler, Sedge Warbler, Whitethroat, Green Woodpecker and Jay most noticeable.
The moth in the photograph is a Pyrausta Purpuralis which I found on Ragwort around Abbey Mead pit also some Water Mint around this pit (below)
Along the Millstream a pair of Kingfisher were flying up and down the stream continually - impossible to photograph though.
Only butterflies seen were Comma and Gatekeeper.
