Tuesday June 6th

A visit between 06.15 and 07.00 this morning. Weather was bright and sunny but quite cool.

2 Nightingale singing by the Water Works entrance and the first of two Cuckoo calling by the scrape. The scrape itself only held a few BH Gulls and 2 Pied Wagtail. I walked through the east scrub by the divers car park and a Turtle Dove was purring and a Willow Warbler singing. Over to the open area which was very quiet apart from a pair of Mistle Thrush and several Whitethroat. A second Cuckoo was calling from over towards Abbey Mead but I didn't have time to do my longer circuit.

I walked back towards the scrape and up the Mill Stream a little way. There are still quite a few Glow Worm larva along this path.
