Sunday 4th June

Visit between 06.45 and 08.15 this morning. Lovely sunny morning - far too late to beat all the dog walkers.

Nightingale were surprisingly vocal this morning with at least 5 in full song and some showing really well. Also at least 5 (possibly more) Cuckoo with 3 together by the scrape - which held only a few Gulls.

A Sedge Warbler was in full song along the Medway but remained hidden and 2 Lesser Whitethroat were rattling away around Abbey Mead with 2 Cettis. The sunken marsh was also alive with Reed Warbler song and 2 Turtle Dove singing from the wires. I photographed this Hedge Cranes-Bill (Geranium Pyrenaicum)

Blue-Tailed, Common and Azure Damsels were everywhere this morning and several Glow Worm larva were crawling about along the Millstream path - so it will be worth a dusk visit at some stage.
