Friday 29th August

A Bat Walk tonight at Leybourne Lakes. The weather was perfect, still and warm. Over 50 people turned up and we wandered around picking up a few on the bat detectors (45 khz) Common Pippistrelles then we were treated to some fantastic views of up to 3 Daubenton's Bat flying low over Tesco's Lake (at around 30khz).

Interestingly we also picked up lots of chirruping Crickets and coneheads on the bat detectors.

Birds seen were 2 Little Egret flying over, a pair of Gadwall on the scrape and a Sparrowhawk.

Hi Steve, nice to know that the bat walk it was so well attended. Thanks for the comments on the evil shot. For the majority of my insect shots I use a canon 60mm f2.8 just a little bit lighter than the 100mm.
