Saturday 26th May

Out between 5.30am and 7ish this morning. It was overcast and breezy.

Numbers were down on recent weeks not helped by the weather. 6 Nightingale still in song across the area along with 22 Whitethroat, 10 Reed Warbler and 5 Cettis. In addition to this there were 3 Cuckoo, 3 Garden Warbler, 2 Willow Warbler and a single Lesser Whitethroat along the path between Abbey Mead and the railway.

c50 young noisy Starling were in the east scrub, many being fed by their parents. The first of two Fox were here as well, with 7 Swift over. A Pheasant called from somewhere in the scrub. A single Water Vole was by the divers bridge.

The only other sightings of note were 2 Great and 2 Green Woodpeckers, 2 young Song Thrush, 2 Mistle Thrush, 2 Jay and a Kestrel.
