Saturday 10th February
A visit between 8 and 9.30am this morning. Raining steadily during my entire visit.
Quiet today, a few Redwing over as I parked up at the Water Works. Off over towards Abbey Mead, 4 Shelduck was the most interesting bird on this pit. c25 Teal on the Medway with 4 more Shelduck. A Fieldfare at the North end of Abbey Mead, a few Reed Bunting in the sunken marsh and one distant calling Bearded Tit. Also 5 Goldfinch here.
Best bird of the day was a Water Rail that showed well flying between 2 patches of reeds on Brooklands Lake. a Kestrel flew over as I arrived back at the car. Apart from that very quiet and drenched!
