Wednesday 6th September

A visit between 16.30 and 17.30 today. Warm, clear skies with a light breeze.
A single Swallow over as I parked the car by the Water Works entrance but again the scrape was empty except for a couple of Grey Heron. Several blue damselflies along the paths but more obvious were the scores of Migrant Hawker, a few Common Darter and 2 Brown Hawker. A single Slow Worm in the open area and a Common Lizard on the style over the railway track towards Abbey Mead.

I managed a better flight shot of a Migrant Hawker this time.

MIGRANT HAWKER

On Abbey Mead there were 50+ Tufted Duck, 10 Pochard, 2 Gadwall and large numbers of Coot. A Jay over, 2 Green Woodpecker was about it for the hour.

Really nice shot. I tried a few myself, but nothing that could compare to this one.
