Monday 15th May
A couple of tip offs had me visiting New Hythe on my way home from work between 6 and 6.30pm. The bird in question was a Brent Goose.
Showing down to 6 feet between the scrape and Tescos Lake it was a new bird for New Hythe for me. I guess due to the time of year and it's confiding nature it is likely to be a sick bird or perhaps an escape?
Also a few Swifts, and singing Nightingale and a Lesser Whithroat calling.
The Water Violet (Hottonia palustris) display in the ditches by the scrape look fantastic at the moment. This picture doesn't do it justice so I will try and get some close-ups latter in the week if I can.
