Tuesday 4th November

A visit this morning between 10am and 11.15 saw me add two more species to my year bird list at New Hythe up to a very poor 98. A lone Wigeon on Abbeymead and a flyover Redpoll close to the sunken marsh. Also a very good showing of Rook here today - a previously scarce bird with between 10 and 20 flying over throughout the visit. Other highlights included a Little Egret, a Redshank on the Medway along with a few Teal, good numbers of Redwing and still plenty of Goldcrest calling, a Sparrowhawk and Kestrel also put in appearances. A Chiffchaff also called in Brooklands Lake carpark and 2 Grey Wagtail went over.

No pictures today due to the murky weather.....

  1. You'll soon have that ton up Steve. What are you missing, that is likely to turn up?

  4. I am hoping for a winter grebe or two....or perhaps a Waxwing...be interesting to compare our lists at the end of the year and see what the differences are....apart from me not spending as much time 'in the field' as i would like!
